Black History Month Celebration - Thursday, Feb 27th, 6pm

Let’s celebrate the inventions, innovations, and contributions to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) of famous African Americans by taking part in a Living History Museum on February 27th, beginning at 6pm. All students are encouraged to participate, and if interested, please complete this online form. Participants will then research and dress up as an important person in black history (see this list for several examples), and then will present their findings in the Living Museum. Other elements of the celebration will include a hands-on presentation led by ten year-old neuroscientist Amoy Antunet, and a presentation for parents from Maxine Cain of STEM Atlanta Women. If you have any questions about this special event, please reach out to LaToya Tucciarone at latuce@gmail.com.

What We Do

The PTA works to enhance the educational experience of all WPES students by supporting teachers and staff, organizing fundraisers for items not covered by the school budget, and planning and hosting community-building events. Our main fundraising events are the Read-a-Thon, Jingle Jog/Holiday Tree & Candle Sale, and the Spring Auction. Through our fundraising efforts, we support many offerings and initiatives including classroom libraries, teacher and parent grants, field trips and guest speakers for all students, facility enhancements, and various community-building events.

Who We Are

The Winnona Park PTA includes families and teachers affiliated with Winnona Park Elementary School, working together to build community through school events, committees, and initiatives. We elect a Board made up of WPES parents, along with our Principal, Ruth Scott, and several teacher representatives. The Board meets once a month to discuss upcoming events, goals, needs, and concerns raised in the WP community.

If you’d like to attend a PTA Board meeting to bring up an idea or a fundraising opportunity, please contact the PTA Board.
