All students are invited to gracefully jeté into school Friday morning in celebration of Misty Copeland, who started ballet at thirteen years old, and last year became the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in American Ballet Theater’s 75-year history. Our very own Winnona Park ballerinas will be on hand to demonstrate!
This year we will again be featuring the popular Living History Museum for Black History Month. On February 25th at 6pm, students who volunteer for the Living Museum will “become” their chosen person. We are sending home worksheets with grade level appropriate exercises to complete about his or her chosen person. All submissions will be proudly displayed on our “museum” walls and those children who choose to participate in person should be prepared to recite a few facts about their historical figure. Please return the completed worksheet & permission slip by Monday, February 22. We look forward to your student’s participation!
Save the Date! Thursday, February 25th at 6pm for the Black History Month Family Event.
A really fun and educational evening will feature the students’ Living Museum, professional storyteller Keshius Williams, a celebration of the Hip hop movement with Samantha Stone of Project Slide, and a special opportunity for parents to hear from guest speaker, Tasha White of the CSD School Board.
